Publisher review:OpenECHO.com provides free, open source, software modules that can be easily integrated into your applications and website to accept credit card and electronic check payments. ECHONLINE is our web interface (secure payment gateway) that lets a web server send in transactions to ECHO in real time. ECHONLINE recognizes and processes both GET and POST methods. The ECHONLINE service is built around the same set of industry-standard, open interfaces that enable World-Wide Web communications. All transactions use the following well-defined and well-understood technologies:
- Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
- Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption
- Common Gateway Interface (CGI)
ECHO provides two batch interfaces that allow you to submit a simple comma separated value (CSV) text file of transactions. You can create these files using a spreadsheet program like MS Excel or any text editor like notepad. Many databases can output an appropriate file. Results are viewed in each of these systems’ dedicated reporting system. This process can also be automated. Typically the merchant would just manually log onto these systems and browse their computer for the file to submit. See our Protocol and Field Specifications (link below) to view the file format. ECHONLINE Batch is a service that allows merchants to submit files of credit card transactions to ECHO through the Internet for processing. Files are submitted using an Internet browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or can also be submitted programmatically without the need for an Internet browser. The Virtual Terminal allows you to manually submit credit card and check/ACH transactions from any SSL compliant web browser. This can also be accessed via wireless handhelds with SSL web support, such as the Palm Pilot. Transactions are manually entered one at a time using this system. It supports all transaction types. A magnetic stripe card reader can be used with the Virtual Terminal.
